BIO:

Ileana Prosper Holman is a Cuban-born, award-winning Artist living in the Tampa Bay area where she works from life, photos and imagination to express the beauty and emotion of the human face and figure. She is a Certified Activity Professional and a member of the National Association of Activity Professionals, The Colored Pencil Society of America , The Exhibiting Society of Artists and the Coalition of Hispanic Artists.

In 2010, while working as an Assisted Living Facility Administrator in Miami, Florida, Ileana shared her Classic Hollywood portrait drawings with the residents. The famous faces brought back wonderful memories and piqued an interest in art within the community. Their positive reaction was the inspiration behind Ileana’s Face to Face Art & Wellness program, specially designed for community-based settings. Ileana believes everyone is an artist and currently hosts monthly classes and workshops throughout the Tampa Bay area for all ages and levels. Her prize-winning artwork is displayed internationally and her “Island Girl” mural is featured on The Good Wall in Miami’s “Little Havana.” Ileana has won numerous awards, including First Place for her John Lennon colored pencil portrait, “Kaleidoscope Eyes,” at the First Annual Beatles Arts Festival at the Stirling Gallery in Dunedin, FL. Her portraits have been been featured in solo exhibits and in numerous art shows and events in the US and abroad.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

From all my years of observing the human face and figure, I realize that no matter who we are or where we come from, we connect through similar feelings and emotions that make us all human…and in art, there are no language barriers. There is an innate beauty and complexity in each of my subjects, real or imagined, that I seek to expose in my artwork. When I’m able to convey this in my portraits, it’s my ultimate catharsis.
