About

BIO:

Ileana Prosper Holman is a Cuban-born artist living in the Tampa Bay area of Florida where she works from life, photos and imagination to express the beauty and emotion of the human face and figure. Her portraits done in wet and dry media explore and capture the uniqueness and personality of each of her subjects. Ileana’s artwork has been displayed in shows and galleries throughout Florida and at The Ellen Art Show in Los Angeles, CA. Her “Island Girl” mural is featured on The Good Wall in Miami’s “Little Havana.” In April 2017,  Ileana won First Place at the Beatles Arts Festival at the Stirling Art Studios & Gallery in Dunedin, FL, for her portrait of John Lennon entitled, “Kaleidoscope Eyes.”

ARTIST STATEMENT:

The more I focus on the human face, the more I realize we are more alike than different, sharing the same feelings and expressions. There’s an innate beauty and complexity in each of us manifesting as love, hope or perhaps fear that I seek to expose in my portraits.  I love constructing the face to show how the subject’s emotions affect his/her entire being. When I am allowed to convey this on paper or canvas, it is my ultimate catharsis.
