Ileana Prosper Holman is a Cuban-born artist living in the Tampa Bay area where she works from life, photos and imagination to express the beauty and emotion of the human face and figure. She holds an active ALF (Assisted Living Facility) Administrator’s license and in 2015 created the “Face to Face” Art Program to bring the joy of portrait drawing to residents and staff in local retirement communities. In addition, she hosts classes and workshops in corporate settings and special events and is a Presenter for Hillsborough County public libraries. Her portraits done in mixed media explore and capture the uniqueness and personality of each of her subjects. Ileana’s prize-winning artwork has been displayed in shows and galleries throughout Florida and at The Ellen Art Show in Los Angeles, CA. Her “Island Girl” mural is featured on The Good Wall in Miami’s “Little Havana.” In April 2017,  Ileana won First Place at the Beatles Arts Festival at the Stirling Art Studios & Gallery in Dunedin, FL, for her portrait of John Lennon entitled, “Kaleidoscope Eyes.” From February – March 2018, her portraits were featured in a solo exhibit  at the Maureen B. Gauzza Public Library in Tampa, FL.

The more I observe and focus on the human face, the more I realize we are all more alike than different, sharing similar feelings and expressions of emotion. There’s an innate beauty and complexity in each of us that I seek to expose in my portraits . When I am allowed to convey this in my artwork, it is my ultimate catharsis.
